On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2023, the Catholic Women Association of the Ho Diocese handed over a renovated and furnished female cell to the Hohoe Police Station.
The project which was spearheaded by the Catholic Women Association of St. Michael Catholic Church in Hohoe saw the transformation of the female cell with tiles, a water closet, and cleaning detergents to make it habitable for the inmates.
The executives of the Catholic Women Association visited the police station to officially hand over the renovated cell and also to show love to the female inmates.
The Divisional Commander, ACP Jonathan Lamptey, received the donation on behalf of the North Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Fakye Kumi. He expressed his gratitude to the group for their kind gesture and called on others to support the Police Service.
The Women were led by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Debre, the Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and Miss Linda Awaawo Abey presented five bags of cement, cleaning detergents, packs of bottled water, biscuit, assorted drinks, and many other gifts.
Rev. Fr. Daniel Tenu-Yeboah, the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Augustine Catholic Church, prayed for the inmates, blessed the gifts, and blessed the cells before it was officially handed over.
The handing-over event was attended by the District Commander of Police, ASP Edjoh Kofi Bosiaku, Chief Inspector Tetey Kenneth, Chief inspector Amesimeku Thompson, Chief Inspector Marcel Seshie Eric, Chief Inspector Francis Ofori, and Chief Inspector Moses Didevi.
The Catholic Women Association’s visit to the Hohoe Police Station was a demonstration of love and care towards the female inmates and a reminder that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to feel loved and valued.
