A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Chrisantus Kulbile has decried the abuse of power and authority in society. This came to light whilst delivering his sermon on the first Sunday of Lent.
Commenting on the temptation of Jesus in the desert in the readings, he noted Satan’s demand for Christ to change stones into bread was in bad taste. It was a ploy to let Christ abuse power. Comparing the temptation of Christ to persons with power and authority, he noted that the latter are prone to abusing it.
He therefore called on people in authority and persons who are in power not to abuse it. They are to use that power to serve.
