Wednesday, April 19, 2023 has been set as the date for the episcopal ordination of Monsignors Anthony Narh Asare and John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishops-Elect for the Archdiocese of Accra.
A statement issued by the Secretary to the Archbishop of Accra, Fr. Emmanuel Darfour Appah in possession of Catholic Trends said “I write on behalf of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie to inform all that the episcopal ordination of the auxiliary bishops-elect, Msgr. John Kobina LOUIS and Msgr. Anthony Narh ASARE will take place as follows Date: Wednesday 19th April 2023”
The ordination is expected to take place at the Holy Spirit Cathedral at 10:00 am
On February 14, 2023, Pope Francis named then Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Narh Asare, Parish Priest of Ss. Anne and Joachim Parish and Very Rev. Fr. John Kobina Louis, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Accra, Auxiliary Bishops for Accra.
The announcement was made by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Accra.
This brings to 7 the total number of Auxiliary Bishops appointed for Ghana.
The two join Most Rev. Joseph Oliver Bowers SVD, Most Rev. Francis Kofi Anani Lodonu, Most Rev Gabriel Yaw Anokye, Most Rev. John Kodwo Amissah and Most Reverend Matthias Kobena Nketsiah as the only Auxiliary Bishops in the History of Ghana.
