The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra is set to celebrate its 130th anniversary this year starting off with a launch event scheduled for Sunday, March 5th, 2023.
The celebration which is on theme “130 Years of Catholic Mission in Accra: A Time to Enlarge the Space of Our Tent,” inspired by Isaiah 54 will be launched with a recorded message from the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, the Archbishop of Accra.
According to a letter signed by Fr. Emmanuel Darfour Appah, the Archbishop’s Secretary, the anniversary launch is expected will take place in all parishes, rectorates, and outstations in the Archdiocese.
The activities to mark the 130th anniversary celebration include a May Day games and interaction on May 1, a special pilgrimage to the Holy Spirit Cathedral in May, and a public lecture in August.
The climax of the celebration will be on November 12th at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Adabraka, with representatives from Parishes, Rectorates, Outstations, groups, and societies.
The Catholic Mission has a rich history in Accra, and the anniversary celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the impact it has made over the years.
