A dying man on his sick bed has miraculously gained strength in the Gambia after receiving baptism and anointing from a Catholic priest.
A Nigerian Priest on mission in the Gambia, Rev. Fr. Kelvin Ugwu who narrated the incident on Facebook said he received a distressed call that one Mr. Jean-Pierre was dying and had requested for baptism before he meets his maker.
According to the narration, the 80-years old man was unable to stand nor talk and could only recognise the priest by the cassock he was wearing.
According to the Fr. Ugwu, he was surprised when the man all of a sudden gained strength, stood up and started to speak after receiving the sacraments of baptism and anointing of the sick.
“I welcome to the Catholic Church Mr Jean-Pierre. By 2 pm, I received a call that Mr Jean-Pierre (English: John-Peter) is dying and had requested baptism. He is about 80 years old and yet to be baptized. When I got to the house to baptize him, he was unable to stand or to move,” the Facebook post said.
“He laid on the bed and only managed to recognize me because of my cassock. He was dying. But I was really moved by what happened after the baptism and anointing, he stood up and was even talking. He sat on the seat and surprisingly he was totally different and filled with joy,” it added.
