Ghanaian Catholic media content creators are speaking out about the challenges they face in creating and promoting their content in the West African country.
One content producer, with the YouTube channel name “The 2nd Archangel” in an episode titled “Ghanaian Catholic Content Creators”, spoke candidly about the difficulties of being a Catholic content creator in Ghana.
“One of the hardest places to be a Catholic content creator in our part of the world is Ghana. It is so stressful and zeal-killing because it is like you are fighting with forces of darkness,” the content creator said.
The challenges cited by the content creator included the struggle against the YouTube algorithm and difficulty reaching their target audience, particularly Catholic youth. The content creator spoke about the frustration of creating content that goes unseen and unappreciated.
“For most Ghanaian Catholic content creators, your primary audience are Catholics, especially the Catholic youth. But looks like the Catholic youth are not interested in what you have to offer…Even for the few who watch, they watch to fulfil righteousness. Only a few watch to the end. Honestly, I want to give up sometimes. I want to stop. And I don’t know if other content creators feel that way,” the content creator lamented.
Despite the challenges, the content creator acknowledged the importance of persevering in their work and encouraged support for fellow Catholic content creators who are making strides in the space.
