The Tamale Provincial Youth has elected new youth leaders in accordance with the new Ghana National Catholic Youth Council (GHANCYC) constitution.
The newly elected executives include Zacchaeus Zinanibe Tieruzie as Chairperson, Elizabeth Nimo Tachin as Vice Chairperson and Secretary Flora Vikpedome Libiedem.
The rest are Joshua Amehi Youth Cordinator, Rev. Fr. Boris Charles Ansu Tengabo as Provincial Chaplain and Rev. Fr. Nicodemus Nuobetah Unezumeh as Provincial Vice Chaplain. Mattew Adda and Patricia Abraham were also co-opted as Provincial Executives.
The newly elected executives were inducted into office by Most Rev. Philip Naameh, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale and President of the Tamale Ecclesiastical Pastoral Conference.
The new Provincial Executive Board in a communique issued at the end of its 2023 Study session outlined five key strategic plan to undertake in the province to uplift the spirit and participation of youth in activities in the Tamale Ecclesiastical Province which is predominantly Muslim community.
This strategic plan includes Leadership Skills for Diocesan Youth Councils (DYCs), Parish Level, Societal and Groups to bridge leadership gap among the various Diocesan Youth Councils through to Parish Youth Councils, Societies and groups that fall under the Provincial Council.
The Province Council under the new leadership seeks to provide the Diocesan Youth Council practical capacity building workshops on developing leadership skills and ways to lead and administer leadership to all young people within the province.
The Zinanibe Tieruzie led administration also intend to organise Provincial and Diocesan Jamboree Celebrations as there is a growing disconnection among the Youth because of technological advancement.
This celebration will serve as a way of allowing young people to connect physically with each other to promote interaction, sharing and exchange of ideas and experiences, even as we learn more about our faith and create more opportunities to socialize through good and healthy communication among peers.
The Executives will leverage on the National Catholic Secretariat’s Sahel Peace Initiative to plan and sustain the initiative for Youth and development and promoting the Catholic faith in the province.
