The Catholic Diocese of Ho is preparing to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the episcopal ordination of Most Rev. Francis Anani Kofi Lodonu, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese.

On June 29th, 2023, the Diocese will come together to celebrate this memorable event that took place 50 years ago after he was ordained Auxiliary Bishop of then Keta Diocese in 1973.

The Central Planning Committee has outlined a series of activities leading up to the climax of the celebration.

The official launch will take place on May 28th at St. Francis Parish in Ho-Kpevele.

From May 28th to June 25th, public lectures on Bishop Lodonu will be held at various Catholic secondary and tertiary institutions in the Ho Diocese.

On June 21st, a vigil mass will be held at St. Aloysius Parish in Gbi Atabu.

A statement by the Bishop of Ho, Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD is urging sons and daughters of the Diocese to commit the whole celebration to their fervent prayers so that it may be a successful one.

He trusts in their usual support and prayers for the successful organization of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Bishop Lodonu’s episcopal ordination.

First Sunday of Advent

Book of Isaiah 63,16b-17.19b.64,2b-7.

You, LORD, are our father,
our redeemer you are named forever.
Why do you let us wander, O LORD, from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we fear you not? Return... for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your heritage.
Too long have we been like those you do not rule, who do not bear your name. Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, with the mountains quaking before you,
While you wrought awesome deeds we could not hope for,
such as they had not heard of from of old. No ear has ever heard, no eye ever seen, any God but you doing such deeds for those who wait for him.
Would that you might meet us doing right, that we were mindful of you in our ways! Behold, you are angry, and we are sinful;
all of us have become like unclean men, all our good deeds are like polluted rags; We have all withered like leaves, and our guilt carries us away like the wind.
There is none who calls upon your name, who rouses himself to cling to you; For you have hidden your face from us and have delivered us up to our guilt.
Yet, O LORD, you are our father; we are the clay and you the potter: we are all the work of your hands.
