St. James Catholic Church, Osu, renowned for its vibrant and engaging activities, held its highly anticipated praises and worship night service dubbed “Yadah” on Friday, June 30th, 2023.

The event, which was the third edition, was organized by the St. James Parish Youth Council under the theme, “They that know their God shall do exploit, (Daniel 11:32).”

Rev. Fr. Mandela Anyigba, the Parochial Vicar of the St. Maurice Parish, Labadi, led the youth through exaltation and intercessory prayers and guided the congregation towards a deeper connection with divinity. The evening also featured the exposition of the blessed sacrament, further enhancing the solemnity of the occasion.

The melodious sounds of worship followed the exaltation and intercessory prayers.  The St. James Singing Ministry, along with Min. Adeline Baidoo and Kojo Anselm, led the congregation in heartfelt hymns and anthems.

The “YADAH” followed the parishes laity week event, which had been launched the previous Sunday and unfolded throughout the week. The theme for this year’s laity week event is ‘For A Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, And Mission.’

The initiative aimed to mobilize parishioners to actively and consciously participate in the life of the Church through a series of teachings, discussions, and prayers held every evening, with parishioners encouraged to build their faith and journey together as faithful Catholic Christians.

The parish will climax the Laity Week celebration Sunday, July 2, 2023, with a Thanksgiving Mass.

St. James Catholic Church continues to foster an environment where worship and fellowship intertwine, inviting believers to encounter the divine in a profound and transformative way. Through events like Yadah and laity week, the church remains committed to guiding its members towards a life of communion, active participation, and a shared mission of faith.

First Sunday of Advent

Book of Isaiah 63,16b-17.19b.64,2b-7.

You, LORD, are our father,
our redeemer you are named forever.
Why do you let us wander, O LORD, from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we fear you not? Return... for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your heritage.
Too long have we been like those you do not rule, who do not bear your name. Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, with the mountains quaking before you,
While you wrought awesome deeds we could not hope for,
such as they had not heard of from of old. No ear has ever heard, no eye ever seen, any God but you doing such deeds for those who wait for him.
Would that you might meet us doing right, that we were mindful of you in our ways! Behold, you are angry, and we are sinful;
all of us have become like unclean men, all our good deeds are like polluted rags; We have all withered like leaves, and our guilt carries us away like the wind.
There is none who calls upon your name, who rouses himself to cling to you; For you have hidden your face from us and have delivered us up to our guilt.
Yet, O LORD, you are our father; we are the clay and you the potter: we are all the work of your hands.
