The Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński is set to return from leave on July 13, 2023.
With his arrival, the Catholic Church in Ghana anticipates significant developments that are expected to shape the future of the faith in the country.
One of the eagerly anticipated milestones of the Apostolic Nuncio’s return is the presentation of the Ad Limina statement of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference to His Holiness Pope Francis.
The Ad Limina statement captures a comprehensive report on the state of the Church in Ghana, highlights the accomplishments, challenges, and aspirations of the Catholic community in the country.
This comes after the prelates missed their meeting with the Pope during their Ad Limina visit in May 2023.
The eagerly anticipated meeting between members of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference and Pope Francis during their Ad Limina visit was thwarted by unforeseen circumstances.
The meeting scheduled for Friday, May 26, 2023, was reportedly canceled due to issues relating to the health of the Pope.
The Vatican spokesperson, Matteo Bruni, did not provide any further details on the health issue but said “Because of a fever, Pope Francis did not receive [anyone] in audiences this morning.”
