Members of the All Saints Catholic Church, Torgome in the Keta-Akatsi Diocese can now hope to hold worship as a community come rain or shine.
The church community has been holding Masses under a tree after a structure used for worship collapsed months ago.
This new beginning comes after Family and Friends led by Mr. & Mrs Deku spearheaded a lenten donation in support of All Saints Catholic Church’s project. The Group presented hundred bags of cement on behalf of all other contributors on Friday, August 4.
Speaking in an address at the presentation ceremony Mrs. Magarret Deku assured the community of the group’s continuous support till the project is completed.
“We came to see how you’re preserving the faith and also present something small to help with your ongoing church-building project. We consider this important because we want to see you worship not under trees but in a building. We want to assure you that we will come again with our support,” she said.
She further appreciated Rev. Fr. Gustave Adzaho, Rev. Fr. Franklin Adzaho, Rev. Fr. Michael Selasi Combey, and Rev. Fr. Teresa Cross Cudjoe for their unwavering support.
For his part, the priest in charge of the community, Rev. Fr. Ruben Awuye expressed appreciation on behalf of the community for the kind gesture. He urged them not to relent in their effort to help deprived churches.
The Lenten donation initiative has demonstrated unity within the community and reignited hope for a brighter future for the worshippers of All Saints Catholic Church Torgorme.
