The Star of the Sea Cathedral in Takoradi witnessed a heartwarming mass wedding ceremony on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Ten couples embarked on the journey of holy matrimony, surrounded by the beauty of the cathedral.
Leading the event, the Very Rev. Fr. Lawrence Kwesi Krah, Cathedral Administrator, delivered a poignant homily, highlighting the paramount importance of nurturing relationships based on love and respect.
In his address, Fr. Krah lauded the ten couples for their courageous decision to join in the sacred bond of marriage. He urged them to not only cherish their union but also to serve as beacons of inspiration for others contemplating a similar path.
Fr. Krah eloquently shared, “When two hearts unite in love and respect, they lay the groundwork for a relationship that can endure life’s trials and tribulations. Love stands as the cornerstone, while respect acts as the mortar that binds the structure together.”
Continuing his words of wisdom, Fr. Krah encouraged the newlyweds to actively “cultivate and nurture the seeds of love and respect” in their relationships. He emphasized that through mutual respect, forgiveness becomes more attainable in times of misunderstanding. Furthermore, he underscored the significance of deep love, expressing how it becomes an unbreakable support system during both joyous and challenging moments.
The mass wedding ceremony extended beyond being a personal celebration for the ten couples; it also held a pivotal place in the weeklong program organized by the Star of the Sea Cathedral to commemorate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
