A significant celebration unfolded within the Cape Coast Archdiocese as 141 candidates from the Mary Queen of Peace Parish Community received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The Confirmation ceremony took place on Sunday, the 20th of August, 2023. The occasion commemorated the Patronal Feast day of the Mary Queen of Peace Parish, 4th Ridge, within the Archdiocese of Cape Coast, and also honored the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The candidates hailed from the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church 4th Ridge, including its outstations, St. Luke Catholic Church Kakumdo, Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church Akotokyir, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Mempasem, St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church Effutu, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Effutu Koforidua, St. Cecilia Catholic Church Essuakyir, and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Abream Essiam.
These 141 individuals underwent a period of preparation, culminating in this solemn rite of passage in the Church.
Presiding over the celebration and administering the Sacrament was Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast.
A congregation of several priests from the Archdiocese attended the Mass, including Rev. Fr. David Ocran, Rev. Fr. Edward Nti, Rev. Fr. Joseph Ayimadu, Rev. Fr. Charles Snypar, Rev. Fr. Hillary Aidoo, and Rev. Fr. Francis Odoom.
The Sacrament of Confirmation holds immense significance within the Catholic faith, representing a pivotal step in an individual’s spiritual maturity and commitment.
