The Catholic youth of the Diocese of Wiawso have elected new youth leaders for the Diocesan Youth Council.
The Diocesan Youth Election was held at this year’s Annual General Council Meeting at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre Sefwi Datano in the Western North Region.
The new Diocesan Executive includes the Chairperson Madam Gifty Asiedu, Vice Chairman Mr. John K. Asare and Michael Praman Kwarteng.
The rest include Assistant Secretary Richard A. Mintah, Financial Secretary Gideon Agyapong, Organizing Secretary, Stephen B. Hamilton, Public Relations Officer Gideon Agyapong and Abigail E. Adjei-Poku the Youth Co-ordinator who was appointed by Rev. Fr. Nicholas Opoku Wiawso Diocesan Youth Chaplain in consultation Most Rev. Samuel Nkuah-Boateng, Bishop of Wiawso.
Bishop Nkuah- Boateng who commissioned the newly elected Diocesan Executives urged them to be steadfast and not to be afraid of the responsibility given to them.
He encouraged them not to hesitate to reach his office for any support or advice during their tenure of office.
Gifty Asiedu, the Wiawso Diocesan Youth Chairperson in her acceptance speech thanked her predecessors for the good work they have done through their tenure of office and the transition period.
Madam Asiedu said her executives will organise leadership seminars, and entrepreneurship skills programs to boost and equip the youth with the needed skills to carry out their duties and also to gain entrepreneurship skills in life to help cope with economic challenges and make them self-dependent.
She appealed to all youth in the Diocese to support the leadership and always pray for them for total commitment to the youth agenda in the Diocese.
