The Ghana National Catholic Youth Council(GHANCYC) have ended it’s 47th Annual General Council Meeting at the Francisan Valley of Prayer and Silence in Afrangua Saltpond in the Cape Coast Archdiocese.
This year’s AGCM which was attended by all the 20 Catholic Arch/Dioceses/Vicariate and National Movements in Ghana was themed ” For a Synodal Church: Participation,Communion and Mission in the light of New Evangelisation in Ghana.”
In attendance was the Episcopal Co-Chair for Laity, Most Rev. John Alphose Asiedu SVD, Bishop of Apostolic Vicariate of Donkokrom and Episcopal Co-Chair for Youth and Laity encouraged youth leaders to rigorously promote leadership formation and help each other when we are going wayward.
In the keynote address The Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast Most Rev Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle admonished youth leaders to read and learn the rich doctrines of the church and always stand up and defend the mother church always.
He urged the priests and Laity to guide youth leaders to take up leadership role in the church and engage in partisan politics in order to change the polarised political nature of the Country.
The Annual General Council Meeting of
Ghana National Catholic Youth Council
is organized to take stock of youth activities within the Catholic Church in the past year and also plan for the ensuing year.
The Ghana National Catholic Youth Council ( GHANCYC) objectives includes the coordination of programmes and activities of member bodies for the greater good and effective organization and participation.
The Council is also to foster in the youth an awareness of their responsibility of collaborating in the continuous creation and maintenance of the communion with the people of God, the Church of Christ and help the Catholic youth spiritually, morally and intellectually by promoting
spiritual formation, which should foster deeper understanding of the Holy Scriptures and the Teachings of the Church; undertaking retreats, conducting seminars as a means of deepening of spiritual life.
