The St. Martin Deaf Ministry under the auspices of Rev. Fr. René Kouame Dan Yao, SMA, s rolling out a certificate programme in Ghanaian sign language for interested persons.
According to Fr. Kouame, the move is to encourage inclusiveness for persons living with hearing impairment. He is hopeful that participants will serve as volunteers for the ministry.
Speaking at the Accra Archdiocesan chapter of the World Union of Catholic Women (WUCWO) 2023 day celebration held at the Holy Spirit Cathedral on September 9, Fr. Kouame noted that the certificate course will commence on September 20.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to extend our invitation to all present. We have an upcoming certificate course for Ghanaian sign language commencing September 20, 2023 and registration is currently ongoing. This course presents a unique opportunity for volunteers to learn and communicate with our hearing-impaired brothers and sisters fostering inclusivity and understanding in our society,” he said.
