Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, the Catholic Archbishop of Accra, has issued a decree establishing Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Adenta as a territorial Parish within the Madina Deanery in the Archdiocese of Accra.
The decree, which was officially signed and sealed on October 6, 2023, designates Holy Rosary Catholic Church as “Holy Rosary Parish, Adenta,” bringing with it new responsibilities and privileges within the Archdiocese. The Parish’s erection took effect on the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7, 2023.
“I, Most Rev. John Bonaventure KWOFIE, Catholic Archbishop of Accra, having consulted the Presbyteral Council of this Archdiocese, in accordance with the provisions of Canons 515 §§ 1-3 and 518, and by the testimony of this document do hereby erect Holy Rosary Catholic Church, consecrated on the 12th day of February, 2023, as a territorial Parish of the Madina Deanery in the Archdiocese of Accra. Henceforth, it shall be called Holy Rosary Parish, Adenta, and shall be governed by all other canons relating to parishes, as well as the particular legislations of the Archdiocese of Accra,” the decree said.
The Archbishop has also appointed Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Acheampong as the first pastor of Holy Rosary Parish, Adenta. He will be responsible for shepherding the new Parish and fostering the spiritual growth and well-being of its members.
“May the Gospel be made known to the faithful, and all who gather within this new Parish be sanctified through the regular reception of the Sacraments which Jesus instituted and grow deeper in their knowledge of and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, crucified and risen,” the decree stated.
