The Opoku Ware School in the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi will be the only Catholic School competing for honours at this year’s final stage of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Competition.
Opoku Ware School, affectionately known as OWASS, took a significant stride towards clinching their third NSMQ title following a hard-fought victory in today’s semi-final.
Having secured the coveted NSMQ title in 1997 and 2002, the spirited students from Santasi displayed an exceptional level of prowess that proved too formidable for their competitors, Pope John Senior High School & Minor Seminary, and Prempeh College, in the second semi-final of the day.
In a fiercely contested battle, Opoku Ware School emerged victorious with a slender two-point margin, securing their spot in the final.
Earlier today, one of the three Catholic schools competing at the semi-final stage of the National Science & Maths Quiz, St. Louis SHS could not advance to the finals stage after succumbing to Achimota School and Wesley Girls’ High School earlier today.
Achimota School clinch victory over formidable opponents with 41 points, Wesley Girls’ High School (31 points) and St. Louis SHS (26 points).
Meanwhile, KETASCO, PRESEC and Mfantsipim are set to lock horns for the final slot of the final stage of the competition.
