The St. Agnes Catholic Church, Dodowa in the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra experienced a day of contrasting emotions on Sunday, October 22, 2023, as it hosted Most Rev. John Kobina Louis for a traditional Sunday celebration.
A downpour accompanied by a very strong wind swept through the area after Mass and caused substantial damage to a part of the building.
Fortunately, the congregants had vacated the church premises. Hence, no lives were put in danger.
Priest in charge, Reverend Fr. Emmanuel-Mary Ofori Srem in a Facebook post spoke on the devastation, saying, “We’re devastated by the wreckage, but we shan’t lose hope. We know it could have been worse, so even in this, we give thanks to God.”
He further requested prayers from the community and the broader public for their church and sought support to help rebuild the damaged section of the building and complete the entire edifice to the glory of God.
For those willing to contribute and support the restoration efforts, the church has set up a fund to aid in the rebuilding process. Contributions from well-wishers and the congregation are welcome as they embark on this journey to rebuild and renew St. Agnes Catholic Church.
