The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie has announced “Helping Children to seek Christ: From Discovery to Discipleship” as the common theme for all Churches in the Archdiocese for the year 2024.
The focus is to prioritize the spiritual growth and development of the younger members within the Archdiocese.
In a November 2024 statement addressed to priests, religious and laity of Accra, Archbishop Kwofie expressed the significance of this theme, aligning it with the recent call by the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference to foster the growth of the Catholic Church. The focus on Children Apostolate is seen as fundamental to achieving this objective.
“Our pastoral priority for the upcoming year will be the nurturing and guidance of the children within our archdiocese. Our collective efforts will revolve around directing our attention and resources toward the spiritual development and growth of the younger members of our community,” Archbishop Kwofie said.
Parishes, rectorates, outstations, and institutions within the Archdiocese are urged to integrate this theme into their ministries, apostolates, and personal lives. The Archbishop called for a unified effort to ensure that children receive the spiritual guidance and nurturing they deserve.
He also encouraged the visible display of the theme in all churches within the Archdiocese, fostering a sense of unity and shared commitment to the mission of the Church.
