Children in Ghana’s Archdiocese of Accra have offered prayers for peace to be restored to the Middle East.
Prayers of understanding and love were said for Israel and Palestine and other war-torn regions of the world during the prayer of the faithful at this years’ biggest gathering of children in the Archdiocese hosted by Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie in Accra on December 28.
This gesture follows what appears to be an unending exchange of attacks between Palestine and Israel the past few weeks.
Reports say some 35 people have been killed in Nuseirat and Maghazi refugee camps following Israeli bombings in central Gaza over the past 24 hours.
The Israel-Palestine conflict, which broke out more than two months ago, has already claimed over 20,000 lives, mostly of children and women.
There is no immediate end in sight to the conflict. But despite pounding Gaza for more than two and a half months, Israel is far from achieving its military goals. Nor have its attacks forced Palestinians in Gaza to distance themselves from Hamas. Instead, the attacks have exacerbated Palestinian resentment against Israel.
