All is set for Catholic Trends’ webinar on sustaining the faith of Catholic students in tertiary institutions in Ghana later today.
The virtual event scheduled for 7pm GMT on January 3, 2024 is discussing the topic, “Dwindling Catholic Population: How do we sustain the faith of newly admitted students in the various tertiary institutions in the country.”
The event will parade National President of Pax Romana, UDS President of Pax Romana, UG President of Pax Romana, UCC Pax Secretary and President of Pax Roman Choir of KNUST as panel members.
The move comes after the Episcopal Conference of Ghana lamented the dwindling Catholic population in the country and called for “aggressive catechesis” to prevent further shrinking.
In a Nov. 13 address at the Bishops’ plenary assembly in Sunyani, Bishop Matthew K. Gyamfi, President of the Conference, noted that the proportion of Ghanaians identifying as Catholics had fallen from 15.1% in the 2000 census to 10.1% in the 2021 census.
