The Society of the Divine Word (SVD) in the Ghana Province has wrapped up its 2024 Provincial Chapter, featuring 43 capitulars and seven specially invited participants.
The Chapter serves as a crucial gathering for members of the Society to discuss and make decisions on important matters related to their mission, policies, and future direction.
The primary objectives of this gathering were to prepare the Province for the upcoming SVD 19th General Chapter in Rome in July and to formulate resolutions and recommendations guiding the Province’s policy direction for the next triennium.
Among the attendees were a former Provincial Superior, three secretaries, a representative from SVD Lay Partners, two representatives from SVD confreres in temporary vows, and a representative of the Missionary Sisters, Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS).
The Chapter commenced with a Eucharistic celebration on Monday, January 8, 2024, led by Very Fr. Cyprian Kuupol, SVD, who served as the Provincial Superior and President of the Chapter.
The opening ceremony included a candlelight procession, the enthronement of the Word, and the reading of the prologue of the Gospel of John 1:1-18.
Moderated by Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fiananuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, the Chapter spanned from Sunday, January 7, to Thursday, January 11, 2024.
