The Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) have officially opened a branch of the Orthopedic Training Centre (OTC) in Loagri near Walewale, Ghana.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the newly constructed site in Loagri on January 15, as part of activities marking the celebration of the feast day of St. Arnold Janssen SVD, the Founder of the Society of the Divine Word.
The timing of the inauguration was particularly significant as it coincided with the 10th anniversary of the passing of Br. Tarcisius de Ruyter SVD, the founder of the OTC in Nsawam Adoagyiri.
The momentous event commenced with a Eucharistic celebration led by Very Rev. Fr. Cyprian Kuupol, SVD, the Provincial Superior of the SVD Ghana Province. The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including the North East Regional Director of Health, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of West Mamprusi District, and the Chiefs and elders of Loagri.
Also in attendance were Very Rev. Fr. Lawrence Azure, the Vicar General of the Navrongo-Bolganta Diocese, Sr. Mercy Benson, SSpS, the Provincial Leader of the SSpS, Mrs. Lilian Annan, the Chairperson of the OTC Advisory Board, along with other priests and religious figures.
The establishment of the Orthopedic Training Centre in Loagri reflects the commitment of the Divine Word Missionaries to enhance healthcare services in the region. The center is expected to provide specialized training and services in orthopedics, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
