In a bid to make spiritual encounters more accessible to busy individuals, the Africa North-West Province of the Society of Jesus has launched the A Moment With God (AMWG App), bringing daily reflections to millions worldwide.
Rooted in Jesuit tradition, each episode offers a brief 5-minute meditation accompanied by soothing background sounds, providing a sanctuary of peace amid life’s chaos.
The brainchild behind AMWG, Director of Development for the Africa North-West Province of the Society of Jesus, Fr. Kevin-Maria Odey, SJ, in an interview with Catholic Trends said the initiative was first launched on YouTube in June 2021.
Fr. Odey’s dedication to the project saw him recording episodes in the quiet hours of the night, often contending with the interruption of barking dogs. However, his perseverance paid off, thanks in part to the support of his collaborator, Tom Djabaku, SJ, who handles the production side of the venture.
What started as a humble endeavor has blossomed into a collaborative effort, with Frs. Martins Okoh, SJ, and Miss Chidera Nwile joining the team to broaden the reach of AMWG.
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, with the AMWG app now available in six languages, including English, Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa, Twi, and Ewe, catering to diverse audiences across Nigeria and Ghana.
