Pope Francis has appointed Msgr. John Opoku-Agyemang as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong, Ghana.
He takes over from former President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu.

Msgr. John Opoku-Agyemang was born on 15 August 1957 in Kumawu, in the diocese of Konongo-Manpong.
He studied philosophy at Saint Peter’s Regional Seminary in Cape Coast (1978-1980) and was subsequently awarded a diploma in clinical pastoral education (1982) and a Master of Divinity in theology (1983) from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas, and then a doctorate in pastoral theology (2001) from the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
He received priestly ordination on 22 January 1984.
He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest of Saint Joseph in Esase Bontefufuo (1984-1985), parish priest of Our Lady of the Rosary and chaplain of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi (1985-2009).
Since 2009 he has served as rector of the Saint Gregory the Great Provincial Major Seminary of Kumasi and member of the College of Consultors and the Presbyteral Council of Konongo-Mampong (since 1995).
