Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom, Bishop John Alphonse Asiedu has called on Catholics in the Vicariate to stand in solidarity with their priests through prayer and support.
Delivering a homily on the occasion of Chrism Mass on March 27, Bishop Asiedu expressed gratitude for the dedication and exemplary leadership of priests serving within the vicariate.
“We thank our priests for their love and dedication to their duties and responsibilities, and their availability in offering spiritual and moral guidance to you, our lay faithful,” he said.
Bishop Asiedu however issued a solemn call to action saying, “I entreat you to pray for your priests. That the Lord Jesus, our Chief Shepherd, will protect, preserve, and sustain them in their loving service to God and you, the people God has entrusted to their care and ministry.”
He further noted that, “In our gathering today for Chrism Mass, we are reminded of our unity in Christ through baptism and the consecration of Chrism. This unity is made manifest through the ministry of the Bishop and his priests, who together form the presbyterate.”
Highlighting the sacred bond between bishops and priests, the prelate highlighted the significance of the Chrism.
“Today, as a Church, we give thanks to God for the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the Ministerial priesthood,” he proclaimed. “We thank God for the lives and ministry of our brother priests, particularly those who minister in our local Church here in the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom,” he added.
