The Hohoe Deanery Youth Council of the Catholic Diocese of Ho has acquired 3 acres of land for a farming project aimed at providing employment for the youth in the Deanery.
The Council has also opened a printing shop named Sacred Heart Enterprise.
Crops to be grown on the farm are Maize, Cassava and sweet potato.
These initiatives was launched on March 17 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Hohoe.
Speaking in an interview with Catholic Trends , the Hohoe Deanery Youth Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Michael Wonders Tsekpokumah, said the enterprise would offer various services such as printing, scanning, binding, lamination, designing of flyers and posters, complimentary cards, printing online documents, photocopying, and printing on CD/DVD among others.
The proceeds, he said would be used to support youth ministry in the Deanery.
He explained that work on the farm project had already begun adding that there would be the need for assistance from benevolent individuals and groups who have the youth at heart.
On expenditure, he said an estimated amount of GH¢30,000.00 has gone into setting up the printing shop.
He further noted that there is a plan to secure a large format printer for the shop in the future.
An estimated amount of at least GH¢10,000 would be needed for the Youth Farms.
Fr. Tsekpokumah expressed appreciation to the generous men and women who contributed towards the successes chalked so far and called on the Catholic faithful and all people of goodwill to generously support these projects.
He also revealed that the master plan is to build a Youth Centre of Excellence to champion the formation of the youth.
