The Don Bosco Training Institute in Accra-Ghana is set to commence the training of some 250 young Ghanaians with skills and other resources that would allow them to work in Italy.
The initiative, named ‘The Ghana Project’, was launched on April 6 at the Don Bosco Training Institute in Ashiaman by Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
The move marking the beginning of a transformative collaboration between Ghana and Italy is spearheaded by Confindustria Alto Aldriatico (Confederation of Italian Industries), Salesians of Don Bosco, West Africa South Province (AOS), VIS Ghana, and UMANA Spa.
Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, who as part of his official visit to Ghana inaugurated the project, hailed the initiative describing it as a significant step towards mutual growth and cooperation.
The Don Bosco Training Institute, which will serve as the center for the skills training is expected to leverage on its state-of-the-art equipment and resources.
VIS Ghana, an Italian non-governmental organization, will complement this effort by providing Italian language courses, facilitating the integration of trainees into the Italian workforce.
Meanwhile, UMANA Spa will oversee the recruitment process, ensuring a seamless transition for the Ghanaian trainees to pursue employment opportunities in Italy.
Speaking at the launch, Rev. Fr. Mark Eshun, Principal of the Don Bosco Training Institute, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing its potential to contribute to national development by equipping individuals with valuable skills.
He urged young people to seize the opportunity to acquire skills that would not only benefit themselves but also contribute to the growth of their communities and the nation at large.
