Acting Rector of St. Paul’s Seminary, Sowutuom, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Okine-Quartey, has said the seminary’s boarding facilities are not sufficiently hospitable for the formation of future priests, calling on the public to support the seminary to raise its bonding facilities to a befitting status.
This revelation came during his address at the 2024 Benefactors’ Day celebration held at the seminary on April 28.
Despite the progress made in fundraising efforts, with significant contributions from various sources totaling over 225,000 Ghanaian cedis in the previous year, Fr. Okine-Quartey stressed the importance of continued support from benefactors.
He emphasized that supporting the seminary should be viewed not as a chore but as a privilege, recognising the profound impact it has on shaping the future of the Church.
He also emphasized the importance of providing adequate accommodations for visiting bishops during governing council meetings, highlighting the commitment to reforming the seminary’s approach to priestly formation.
Looking ahead, the Rector outlined the seminary’s plans to prioritise the completion of the Archbishop Andoh Hall and the renovation of halls of residence and priest’s residences.
Fr. Okine-Quartey said the significance of Benefactors’ Day is for the Seminary community to express gratitude to those whose generous contributions support the formation of priests.
