Rev. Msgr. John Opoku-Agyemang was ordained and installed today as the new bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong. The ordination ceremony, held on the AAMUSTED campus, was a significant event for the diocese, attracting a large gathering of clergy, religious, and lay faithful.
The ordination was led by the outgoing Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, H.E. Most Rev. Henryk Jagodziński, with Bishop Emeritus of the Konongo-Mampong Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu, and the Archbishop of Kumasi Metropolitan Archdiocese and Head of the Kumasi Province Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, serving as co-consecrating celebrants.
Members of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, along with clergy and religious representatives from the diocese, attended the ceremony. The event also saw participation from seminarians, lay faithful from within and beyond the diocese, representatives of various faith groups, and government officials, highlighting the broad support and significance of the occasion.
The newly ordained Bishop Opoku-Agyemang expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support and vowed to continue the mission of the church in serving the spiritual and social needs of the community.
