Chairman of the Ghana National Youth Council (GHANCYC), Mr. Matthias Waliba Justice has called on Ghanaian Catholic Youth to preach and promote peace ahead of the country’s 2024 general elections.
He made the call at the opening ceremony of the 48th Annual General Council Meeting of GHANCYC at St. Kizito Pastoral and Catechetical Centre in the Sekondi Takordi Diocese.
Mr. Waliba stated that in order for the West African country to continue enjoying the peace it has, the youth, who form a majority of Ghana’s population need to stay away from trouble and obey all electoral laws as ensuring a peaceful electoral process is essential for the country’s stability and progress.
He urged all Catholic Youth to go out to exercise their franchise by voting for a leader of their choice without violence.
The GHANCYC Chairman further called on the Youth of the Church to continue to serve in various ministries in their youthful days to attract God’s blessings.
He suggested to Parish Youth Councils to promote what he calls ‘Youth in Ministries’ and not to leave certain Ministries to the aged
The 48th Annual General Council Meeting (AGCM) of GHANCYC is on the theme ‘Fostering the Growth of the Catholic Church in Ghana through Collaborative Ministry’.
The theme underscores the significance of teamwork and collaboration in advancing the mission of the Church and working together in ministry. The youth can contribute effectively to the growth and prosperity of the Catholic Church in Ghana by getting themselves involved in the ministries of the church.
