The Knights of St. John International and their Ladies` Auxiliary celebrated their feast day on June 24 under the theme, “Ten years of service: Repositioning Accra East Grand for Maximum Impact on the Noble Order in the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra”
Speaking on the theme during a eucharistic celebration organized by the 1st Regiment of the 14th District commandery (AEG) and District 3 ladies Auxiliary at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Madina in the Archdiocese of Accra, Rev. Fr. Hope Klutsey, SMA encouraged members of the noble order to learn from their patron saint, St. John the Baptist, who continued with his mission until death.
He said John the Baptist did not consider himself as a prophet, but as a voice; very humble. Fr. Hope Klutsey SMA, who is currently the Parish Priest of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Ashale Botwe in the archdiocese of Accra urged members of the noble order to look, behave and smell like their patron saint, St. John the Baptist.
He also urged them to leave behind a good legacy like St. John the Baptist, who is talked about for over 2,000 years.
“Continue with your mission until Jesus comes or until death do you part” Fr. Hope Klutsey, SMA said.
He thanked the members of the Knights of St. John International and their ladies’ Auxiliary for their commitment and support to the Church for the past ten years. He said their mission had just began and that they needed to do more.
Other priests who co- celebrated the Mass were the Chaplain of the 1st Regiment of the 14th District commandery and District 3 Ladies` Auxiliary, Fr. Nimorious K. Domanzing, SMA, Fr. Jean de Dieu, SMA and Fr. Paschal Guddah, SMA.
The Eucharistic celebration was preceded with the sacrament of confession, where some members went to confess their sins.
Present at the occasion were the Accra East Grand President, Brig. Gen. Samuel Baimbill- Johnson, the Regimental commander, Col. Raymond Afari Sam, and the District 3 President, NS Henrietta Provencal Dankyi. Also present were the supreme subordinate Treasurer, Brig. Gen. Joseph Daware, and some serving and past grand and district officers.
Sister Rita banyuuro Kaaku, Respected president of Queen of Peace, Auxiliary number 510, thanked the homilist and other priests for their support.
The Knights of St. John International and the Ladies’ Auxiliary had earlier prepared themselves with the novena to St. John the Baptist with prayers and Bible reflections from different speakers.
The Feast day will be climaxed on Sunday 30th June, 2024 at the St. Bakhita Catholic Church, Lashibi.
