The Vocations Team of the Donkorkrom Apostolic Vicariate has paid a working visit to St. Fidelis Junior High School in Tease and encouraged the students to take their studies very seriously, as it is the only means to achieve success in life.
During this June 19th, 2024 visit, Rev. Fr. Formedza John Felix Awaitey Jnr., Vocations Director for the Vicariate, led the interactions between the students and team members in one of the classrooms of the school. Addressing them, he urged them to begin to make good use of their time and avoid bad company. They should ‘burn the midnight candle’ if they want to be successful; for he underlined:
‘‘The only thing in life that any individual can achieve without effort is failure’’. ‘‘Without effort, you cannot achieve anything good,’’ he added.
Fr. Awaitey further opined that anything the students wish to become ‘tomorrow starts today’. And so, they must study very hard, which is the only one job they have to do at this time they are in school; they should listen to advice and work towards achieving the best.
‘‘Strife to get at least 80% in all your exams,’’ he urged them, and ‘‘Don’t be a friend to someone you are stronger than, academically,’’, he advised.
Speaking to the Catholic students, the Vocations Director encouraged them to consider vocations into the Catholic Priesthood and Religious Life. He further charged them to form a Vocations Club in the school where they meet once in a week to pray that God should consider choosing some of them to serve Him in the Religious Life or Priesthood.
The other team members, Rev. Fr. Anthony Teye Binyemi, Assistant Vocations Director for the Vicariate and Parish Priest of St. Fidelis Parish, Tease and Sr. Sylvie Lum Cho, Vocations Directress of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary in Ghana, took turns in encouraging the students and fostering Vocations to their respective Orders.
To crown the talks on Vocation, some Vocations Prayer leaflets were shared among all, and together, the students, Team and staff present prayed the Vocations Prayer. The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Sampson Agor, together with the students and staff were pleased with the visit and some students could be seen expressing the desire to serve God in the future as they collected flyers from the Team members to read and know more about the Religious Life and Priesthood.
The students shared some challenges they were facing, including the lack of textbooks, desks, Science and Computer Labs and grounds for worship, among others, which the Team promised to convey to the Education Council of the Vicariate for consideration.
