Rev. James Bour-Mensah, the National Youth Chaplain has urged Catholic youth in Ghana to actively participate in the upcoming 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Ghana National Catholic Youth Council and the local version of World Youth Day.
The anniversary, themed “GHANCYC @ 50: Fostering the Growth of the Catholic Youth through Collaborative Ministry and Shaping Peaceful Elections,” is seen as a pivotal moment for the Church in Ghana. Recognizing that the youth are integral to the future of the Church, Rev. Fr. Bour-Mensah emphasized the importance of their participation and the celebration as a platform to showcase their spiritual gifts.
The 48th Annual General Council Meeting of the Ghana National Catholic Youth Council, held in the Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi, brought together delegates from various Arch/Dioceses and national movements to discuss issues affecting the youth and propose practical solutions.
The meeting centered around the theme “Fostering the Growth of the Catholic Church in Ghana through Collaborative Ministry.”
The anniversary celebrations, scheduled from August 30th to September 8th, 2024, at the Catholic University in Fiapre-Sunyani, will feature Masses, catechesis, cultural displays, evangelization efforts, adoration sessions, a float, talent shows, quizzes, and other activities across all archdioceses, dioceses, and vicariates. These activities aim to promote peace ahead of the 2024 general elections while celebrating the faith and contributions of the Catholic youth in Ghana.
