A member of the Congregation of the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer (HDR), of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Sr. Jacinta Kwakyewaa, HDR, has been nominated for the Impact Makers Awards, hosted by Joy News.
The awards recognize individuals making extraordinary contributions to their communities, with Sr. Jacinta’s impactful initiatives in education and humanitarianism standing out among this year’s nominees in the education and social welfare category.
In November 2023 the Religious Sister was adjudged overall best teacher at the 2023 edition of the Global Education Supplies and Solution ( GESS) awards held in Dubai.
An indication of her commitment to humanity.
She earned the nomination following her passionate role in education and humanitarianism which has earned her numerous accolades, including the Global Education Supplies and Solution Awards in Dubai in 2023 and recognition as the 1st Runner-Up for the Ghana Teacher Prize in 2021.
Her efforts extend beyond the classroom; she has actively supported community projects such as renovating the Aperade R/C kindergarten and establishing a Clothing and Textiles Resource Centre.
Among her notable initiatives are the donation of textbooks to multiple schools, distribution of sanitary pads to promote girl-child education, and organizing blood donation drives and community events. Her dedication has impacted countless lives through donations of clothing, food items, and toiletries to correctional centres, orphanages, and underprivileged families.
The second edition of the Joy News Impact Makers Awards is expected to take place on June 29 at the International Conference Centre in Accra.
