Following his appointment as Bishop-Elect of the Catholic Diocese of Wa-Ghana, Monsignor (Msgr) Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr, has expressed his commitment to the faithful, pledging his full dedication to their service and collaboration.
In an interview with Catholic Trends, Msgr. Bomansaan affirmed his approach to leadership, stating, “I bring myself totally and wholeheartedly to serve them and to be able to listen to them to work with them.”
Responding to a question on what the faithful of the Wa Diocese should expect from him, the Bishop-Elect said, “What they should look out for is that I give them my whole heart to work with them.”
The Catholic Diocese on June 5 announced that the bishop-elect for the Diocese will be ordained in August 2024. The Episcopal Ordination is expected to take place on Friday, 2nd August 2024, at the Upper West Sports Stadium in Wa, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The following day, a Thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cathedral in Wa, also at 9:30 a.m.
Pope Francis named then Rev. Fr. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr, as the new bishop for the Catholic Diocese of Wa on May 22.
Msgr. Bomansaan, born on January 19th, 1962, is a member of the Missionaries of Africa (also known as the White Fathers), the same congregation to which the late bishop of the Wa Diocese, Cardinal Richard Kuuia Baawobr, belonged. He took his final oath with the society in 1990 and was ordained as a priest on July 27th, 1991.
His extensive experience includes serving as Vice Superior General of the Missionaries of Africa in Rome, Italy, since 2022. Previously, he managed the Bethany Centre, a recovery center for priests and religious individuals, and was Novice Master at the International English Speaking Novitiate in Kasama, Zambia.
He also held roles as Provincial Superior for the Ghana/Nigeria Province and Vocation Director in Tamale, Ghana.
