Vice President of Ghana and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to fund to its completion the Church building project of Korkordzor St. Jude Catholic Church at New Weija in the Archdiocese of Accra.
The Vice President made the promise when he visited the faithful of the Catholic Community on Sunday, July 7 upon request by the Priest in charge, Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD.

Dr. Bawumia noted that he understood the invitation extended to him by the faithful saying, “I understand why Fr. Campbell asked me to come. I have seen your Church building. You have worked to a point but you have not finished. Leave the rest to me.”
He also promised to ensure the completion of an abandoned 6-unit classroom block which happens to be one of the St. Jude Basic School facilities. ” First thing tomorrow, I will place a call to Getfund,” the Vice President added.

He added that the road leading to the community needed a facelift and he will do all in his power to ensure it is fixed.
The Vice President who did not only come to make promises, together with his team made a cash donation that completely caters for a spinal surgery procedure of a parishioner estimated at about Sixty thousand cedis.

The Church community led by Fr. Andrew Campbell presented to the Vice Present a portrait of St. Jude together with a Holy Bible.
He also presented to the Catholic Youth Organisation of the Church an amount of ten thousand cedis for putting up what he described as an impressive parade performance.
The Vice President, who has been a patron of the Weija Leprosarium under the care of Fr. Campbell hailed the priest for his selfless service to the poor and marginalized in society.
“When I met him and got to know the sort of work that he does. He has been in Ghana for 53 years and his work is about helping the poor and the needy and saving souls. When I met him and I got to know him, my spirit joined with his because I am also very concerned about helping the poor and the needy. So we found out that we had a common course and we have been working together ever since. For me, he is a walking saint,” he said.
