The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra and to a large extent, the Church in Ghana, is mourning the death of Rev. Fr. Dr. Eric Oduro Wiafe.
He is said to have died in the morning of July 25 at Healthlink Hospital aged 59.
Fr. Wiafe, born on August 10, 1965, was a prominent figure in the Archdiocese, having been ordained on July 22, 1995.
For years, he served with distinction as Acting Rector, Dean of Academics, and Lecturer at the Catholic Institute of Business and Technology (CIBT) in Accra.
In a statement, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, expressed the Archdiocese’s profound grief saying, “With great sadness, I regret to announce to you the death of Rev. Fr. Dr. Eric Oduro Wiafe.”
Archbishop Kwofie called for Holy Masses to be offered, stating, “I request that Holy Masses be offered for the peaceful rest of his soul and also for strength and consolation for the bereaved family.”
The Archbishop also extended condolences to Fr. Wiafe’s family and the community, saying, “I extend my condolences and that of the entire Archdiocese to his family.”
The details of the burial arrangements will be announced later according to the July 25 statement.
