Former President of Ghana and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has extended his support and encouragement to the newly ordained Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa, Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan.
Delivering a goodwill message after the ordination and installing ceremonies of the prelate, Mr. Mahama said “Most Rev. Bomansaan, you can count on my friendship and encouragement in the discharge of your responsibilities.”
He expressed his hope that Bishop Bomansaan would be granted “wisdom and strength to lead this Diocese to achieve the great commission of proclaiming his (God’s) word to all parts of the Diocese with compassion and understanding.”
The Former President added that, “It is a privilege to be a part of this auspicious occasion of the episcopal ordination of Msgr. Francis Bomansaan as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa.” He recalled the warmth with which he was received by the late Most Rev. Richard Baawobr during his visit to Wa.
He further acknowledged the critical timing of Bishop Bomansaan’s appointment amid pressing national and global issues. “Most Rev. Bomansaan comes to his new position at a very critical time in the life of our nation and in the life of our subregion and indeed in the life of our world,” he said.
He pointed out the severe economic challenges in Ghana, the political tension leading up to the elections, and broader regional and global conflicts. He however praised the role of the Catholic Church in maintaining peace amid turmoil.
“We thank the Catholic Church for the continued intercessory prayers you say for our dear nation Ghana,” Mahama noted, attributing the country’s stability to these prayers amidst a turbulent regional backdrop. He urged Bishop Bomansaan to continue praying for Ghana’s peace and prosperity and to lead with compassion and understanding.
