The newly ordained Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa-Ghana, Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan has paid a glowing tribute to the Church and people of Ghana and the faithful in his Diocese for the overwhelming support he has received following his nomination as Bishop.
Speaking during his first Thanksgiving Mass held at the St. Andrew’s Cathedral on August 3, Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan said, “I feel very humbled. And I want to say a huge thank you to each one of you for what you have made of this day and this nomination,”
“For me, you have shown me love and I promise you, I accepted this appointment out of obedience and service to you in the Diocese. And I want to say, I give you my whole heart. My whole being as far as I can to my capacity and ability. Thank you for everything,” the Bishop added.
Reflecting on his journey, the Bishop shared that his nomination has brought a new perspective on his role and responsibilities. “I do not know what to say, I am very thrilled and delighted and normally I say I am a shy fellow,” he admitted.
The Bishop recounted a pivotal moment during his final moments at the Vatican, where a Cardinal’s words profoundly impacted him. “What has given me courage is a statement that was made to me when I was at the Vatican. When I finally left the Vatican, the Cardinal told me, ‘Your nomination is not about yourself nor your own convenience’. And that shut me up,” Bomansaan recalled.
