A member of the Sisters of the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer of Accra, Sr. Margaret Mary Woedi, has said she has not regretted being a Religious.
The seasoned Pharmacist describes her life as a Religious as one filled with devotion and professional achievement.
Born in Akosombo and originally from Keta-Dzelukofe in the Keta-Akatsi Diocese of Ghana, Sister Margaret Mary embarked on her educational journey at local institutions before joining the HDR Congregation in 1990.
Her early education included attending Akosombo International School for secondary studies and Keta Secondary School for Sixth Form. In 1993, she made her first profession of vows and began to weave her religious and professional life together. “I joined the HDR Congregation in 1990. In 1993, I had my first profession of vows,” she said.
Following her vows, Sister Margaret pursued a course in dispensing technology at the then Kumasi Polytechnic and worked in Agormenya for five years.
Her quest for knowledge continued as she furthered her studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to become a Pharmacist.
She then worked at Akwatia St. Dominic Hospital before returning to Agormenya. “I went to Kumasi Polytechnic to pursue dispensing technology then I came back to Agormenya to work for about 5 years. After that, I went back to KNUST to study Pharmacy,” she explained.
Reflecting on her 31 years with the Congregation, Sister Margaret expresses profound contentment with her vocation saying, “I have been a member of the Congregation for about 31 years now. I have never regretted being a Sister.”
“Even if I die and come back, I will still be a Sister because there is so much fulfillment in it for me,” she averred.
