The Vatican Press Office has announced the appointment of Sr. Inés Paulo Albino, A.S.C., from Bula, Guinea-Bissau, as the new Secretary General of the Pontifical Missionary Childhood.
Sr. Inés Paulo Albino, born on April 25, 1969, in Bula, Guinea-Bissau, has been a prominent figure in the Church’s mission efforts. She made her religious vows with the Congregation of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ on September 14, 1997.
With a robust academic background, including a licentiate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Sr. Inés has significantly contributed to various fields of pastoral work.
Previously, she served as the pastoral head of the Santa Maria de Mattias parish in Ingoré and directed the National Directorate of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Guinea-Bissau. Her experience spans evangelization, catechesis, teaching, and youth apostolate, reflecting her deep commitment to nurturing faith and guiding young people.
Since 2022, Sr. Inés has held the roles of counsellor and bursar for the Italian Region of her religious institute.
The Pontifical Missionary Childhood, also known as the Holy Childhood Association, is one of the four Pontifical Mission Societies established by the Catholic Church to support missionary work.
Founded in 1843 by French priest Charles de Forbin-Janson, its mission is to foster a spirit of missionary zeal and collaboration among children around the world. The association encourages young people to engage in prayer, education, and charitable activities to support the Church’s mission efforts in various regions, particularly in areas of need.
The organization operates under the auspices of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and aims to instill a sense of global solidarity and missionary responsibility from an early age.
Through various programs and initiatives, the Pontifical Missionary Childhood seeks to inspire children to contribute to the Church’s mission by raising awareness, funds, and providing support to their peers in different parts of the world. Its efforts emphasize the importance of education, faith formation, and social action as integral components of a child’s spiritual and humanitarian development.
