A nine-member new board of directors has been sworn into office for the Standard Newspapers and Magazines(SNAM) Ltd, publishers of the Catholic Standard, with a call on them to inject new and innovative ideas to increase readership and circulation of the paper.
The Most Rev Matthew Gyamfi, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, who made the call while swearing in the new Board, lamented that with the Catholic population in Ghana at about 4 million, only a little over 10, 000 of them subscribed to the Catholic Standard.
He admonished the new Board of Directors to bring their varied experiences and expertise to bear on the company in order to move it forward.

The swearing-in of the new Board took place in Accra on Friday, August 23, 2024, during the 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of SNAM at which the Old Board was also dissolved.
Most Rev. Gyamfi, who is also the Prelate of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, congratulated the new members of the Board for their appointment by their various Provinces or Constituent Bodies, urging them to work hard to turn the fortunes of the company around.
The Episcopal Chairman of the Department of Social Communications of the National Catholic Secretariat, Most Rev. John Baptist Attakruh, welcomed the new Board into office, saying that he was excited about the vast experiences of the new members, adding that his doors were always open for the cross-fertilization of ideas to propel the Catholic Standard to the next level.
The new Board has Sir Vincent Dela Selormey, a Chartered Accountant, as the Board Chairman. He is also the representative of the Accra Province on the Board.
Others are Rev. Fr. Valentine Odoom, representing the Cape Coast Province; Captain Joseph Afriyie Boakye, a retired Pilot, representing the Kumasi Province; Mr. Gordon Wellu, a Media and Public Relations Practitioner, for the Tamale Province; Sir Ambrose Yehnaah, the Knights and Ladies of Marshall representative, and Mr. Anthony Sao, representing the Knights of St. John International and Ladies Auxiliary.

Dieu-Donne Kofi Davor, Executive Secretary of the Department of Social Communications of the National Catholic Secretariat, who is the Board Secretary.
Accepting the new responsibility on behalf of the new Directors, Sir Selormey said he was well aware of the challenges the company faced in this era of new technologies, assuring that the new Board would navigate the odds to place the company in its rightful place in the country.
