A new Church community, “Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church,” has been established in the Archdiocese of Accra following a dynamic four-day evangelization and crusade in Dome Sampama in the Ga West Municipality.
Rev. Fr. Sylvester Julius Segbawu, Priest-In-Charge of St. Peter Catholic Church in Adjen-Kotoku, spearheaded the initiative in collaboration with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Zone 3 of Kaneshie Deanery, and the Pastoral, Mission, and Evangelization Committee of the local church.
The event featured a range of activities, including processions, dawn preaching, house-to-house evangelization, medical outreach, and boutique evangelization, culminating in the planting of the new church.
The launch of “Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church” marks a special occasion for Fr. Segbawu, who dedicated it as a gift for his 8th Priestly Anniversary. The new church aims to address the spiritual and pastoral needs of Catholics in the peri-urban areas of the Archdiocese.
A notable contribution came from Mrs. Esther Akosua Kukah, who generously donated an acre of land for the church’s initial use. The church’s first Holy Mass was celebrated on September 1, 2024, with 44 founding members, including 20 adults and 27 children, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the local Catholic community.
The faithful expressed profound gratitude for the efforts of Fr. Segbawu and Mrs. Kukah, celebrating their roles in this significant spiritual development.
