The National President of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Enthronement Centre, Ghana, Sis. Mrs. Elizabeth Tanpang-Tettey, has highlighted significant challenges facing the Centre, including financial constraints, during the opening of the 10th National Sacred Heart of Jesus Congress on Friday, September 5, 2024, in Tamale.
In her national report delivered at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Mrs. Tanpang-Tettey expressed concern over the Centre’s ability to carry out its mandate effectively due to limited resources.
“The National Enthronement Centre has encountered financial difficulties, which have hampered some of our activities, especially in organizing enthronements and renewals,” she stated. These enthronements, which are essential to maintaining the Sacred Heart devotion in families and institutions, have seen a decline due to these constraints.
Another challenge mentioned in her report is the “inability of devotees to enthrone and renew” their devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which the Centre attributes partly to a lack of resources and awareness. This has had an impact on the growth and sustenance of the devotion across the country.
Despite these hurdles, Mrs. Tanpang-Tettey reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to promoting Sacred Heart devotional practices in Catholic families, particularly among the youth, who she stressed need the Church’s support and guidance more than ever.
She expressed her gratitude to the Catholic Bishops, priests, religious, and lay faithful for their continuous support, and appealed for additional resources to help the Centre overcome its financial difficulties.
The Congress, which marks the Golden Jubilee of the National Sacred Heart of Jesus Enthronement Centre, serves as an important gathering for Catholics to renew their faith, with many pilgrims and clergy in attendance from various dioceses across Ghana.
