The National Sacred Heart of Jesus Enthronement Centre, Ghana, has commemorated its Golden Jubilee with the 10th National Sacred Heart of Jesus Congress in Tamale.
The ongoing event at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium has in attendance several members of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, priests and religious from the various provinces and laity from across the country.
With the theme, “National Sacred Heart of Jesus Enthronement Centre, Ghana @50: Building a Synodal Church, the Role of the Sacred Heart Jesus Devotional Practices in the Catholic Family,” the Congress is focusing on the importance of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in strengthening the Catholic family and promoting spiritual growth.
In her opening remarks on day one of the congress, the National President of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Enthronement Centre, Ghana Sis. Mrs. Elizabeth Tanpang-Tettey expressed gratitude to Most Rev. Philip Naameh, Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, for his leadership and dedication in hosting the event.
She acknowledged the significant role of this congress in promoting unity, peace, and spiritual renewal within the Church and the country, particularly ahead of the December polls.
The National President reiterated the purpose of the congress, stating that its designed to promote “Spiritual Growth and Development for our salvation” while also highlighting the need for personal and communal transformation through the Sacred Heart devotion.
This gathering provides a platform for members of the Sacred Heart Confraternity to reflect on and discuss the role of Sacred Heart Jesus devotional practices in the Catholic family, towards building a Synodal Church.
The program, interspersed with daily Mass and adoration sessions, also provides an avenue for spiritual development, learning, and fellowship for attendees.
