H.E. Most Rev. Julien Kaboré, Titular Archbishop of Milevum and Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, has officially commenced his duties as the diplomatic representative of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, and the Vatican City with a visit to the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) in Shiashie, Accra.
Archbishop Kaboré was received by the Secretary-General of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), Very Rev. Fr. Clement Akwasi Adjei. This visit provided the Nuncio an opportunity to familiarize himself with the structure and operations of the NCS, which plays a vital role in the Catholic Church’s outreach and service in Ghana.
In a meeting with the Secretariat staff, Archbishop Kaboré pointed out the importance of collaboration between the Nunciature and the NCS. “The nunciature cannot work without the NCS helping. Let’s build a strong bridge between the Holy See and Ghana, and vice versa,” he stated.

He further highlighted the significance of understanding one’s colleagues to foster a harmonious working environment, referencing the Holy Scriptures: “The Holy Scriptures ask us to know who we work with so we can work in harmony.”
In his welcoming remarks, Very Rev. Fr. Adjei pledged his support for the Nuncio, affirming, “I will work hard to bring the bishops’ conference closer to you and help you succeed.”
Representatives from various departments, including Education, Human Development, and Strategic Investment, presented overviews of their contributions to the Church’s mission, demonstrating the NCS’s comprehensive role in fostering community and development.
Archbishop Kaboré’s visit marks his first apostolic duty since his appointment by the Holy See on June 29, 2024. With Ghana as his inaugural posting, he expressed enthusiasm for the role and the opportunities it presents to engage with the vibrant Catholic community in the country.
