Former President of Ghana and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. John Dramani Mahama, has made a donation of GH¢50,000 along with a seven-seater vehicle to aid the Catholic Diocese of Yendi in its evangelisation mission.
Speaking at the 25th-anniversary climax of the Diocese on October 26, Mr. Mahama acknowledged the financial pressures surrounding the celebration, stating, “Everything that has gone into this celebration has to be paid for, and so from our own modest resources, we have put together 50,000 cedis to support you.” He noted that while money is a transient resource, the impact of practical support can be lasting.
Reflecting on the unique challenges faced by the Diocese in a rural setting, he shared his thought process leading to the donation: “I thought, what is the best thing I can do on this occasion that will be a tangible contribution to the work of evangelization?”
In addition to the monetary support, Mahama expressed his intention to donate a seven-seater vehicle, stating, “I thought I would give one of those vehicles and donate it to the Yendi Diocese,” which will facilitate their outreach efforts and community engagement.
