The Catholic Diocese of Wa is mourning the death of Rev. Fr. Naagyie Godfrey, who passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the age of 54.
The priest is said to have died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a brief illness.
In a statement issued by the Bishop’s office, Very Rev. Fr. Ben Fiiriter, Chancellor of the Diocese, expressed profound sorrow at the loss. “In close union with the entire Naagyie family of Tizza, I regret to inform you with profound sorrow that the Heavenly Father has called to eternity Rev. Fr. Naagyie Godfrey,” the statement read. “He was 54 years old.”
The announcement, which was addressed to all parishes, institutions, religious communities, and the faithful within the Diocese, called on them to offer prayers for the repose of Fr. Naagyie’s soul. “Please, kindly convey this sorrowful news to all the faithful within your parishes, institutions, and communities and solicit their prayers for the peaceful repose of the soul of Rev. Fr. Naagyie Godfrey,” Fr. Fiiriter urged.
Details regarding funeral arrangements is expected to be communicated in due course, according to the statement.
